​The University of Washington Emergency Medical Services (UWEMS) is a non-transport basic life support agency aimed at providing prompt and professional pre-hospital emergency care to students, staff, and visitors at UW and surrounding areas.

UWEMS is designed to handle a wide range of medical situations, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies, ensuring that medical aid is delivered quickly and efficiently. In addition to emergency response services, UWEMS provides services in various public events and seeks to engage the public in active education for medical emergencies.

Operations begin Winter quarter 2025. As of now, operation hours range from Thursdays to Sundays 12 pm - 12 am, during which we will receive notifications after an emergency is reported by 911 in our area of operation. Once the on-site team is notified, they will be sent out to respond to the emergency and assist until higher level care is able to arrive and either provide more services, transport to a hospital, or verify the patient is no longer in need of medical attention.

Our volunteer team of University of Washington students are all Washington state-certified emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructors. Thanks to the generous funding from our various sponsors, our services are free. The service also operates in collaboration with other departments, including the Seattle Fire Department, and regional medical systems to maintain seamless emergency response.​
